My name is Roman Adler, and I am a documentary photographer.
I shoot where others look away. My projects are the voices of those who are not heard.
They are stories that must be told.
The main subjects of my work are NONAME — people without a name.
THE HUMANS v.21
Six years. Five projects. One story.
I photograph the people of the 21st century — those living on the fault lines of our time.
Under shelling. In unrecognised states. Across alien civilisations. In childhoods that should never exist.
This is not about politics. Not about destruction. Not about pity.
This is about people who refused to disappear.

MY PHILOSOPHY
I choose to look where beauty still lives.
Where people, despite war, devastation, daily fear and pain, sometimes living in inhuman conditions, continue to Love. Continue to Create. Continue to Live.
So many Reapers, and so few Sowers!
I don’t harvest the pain of others. I sow seeds of memory, dignity, and hope.
My camera is not a tool of documentation. It is a tool of love. I don’t shoot because I must. I shoot because I love.
I love people. I love their stories. I love the very possibility of telling these people: you EXIST!
I believe that photography is not just an image. It is testimony. It is memory. It is a voice.
In a world where everyone rushes, where news becomes outdated in an hour, where people become statistics — I choose slowness. I choose depth. I choose to look into eyes, not at headlines.
I don’t make art for art’s sake. I make art for the sake of truth. For those who cannot speak for themselves. For those whom the world prefers not to notice.
My philosophy is simple:
Every person deserves to be seen.
Every story deserves to be told.
Every moment deserves to be preserved.
Because we are all part of one story. The story of humanity. A story that is being written right now.
And if my photographs help someone not to be afraid to live — then I am doing my job right.
Collaboration
The majority of my shoots are social and humanitarian projects. The rest is my personal creative work.
I have many Friends who support me, my projects, initiatives, and searches. Thanks to them, I have the opportunity to remain myself and continue what I do. Not to become a product. Not to lose myself in the pursuit of profit.
I remain myself!
I am open to dialogue and joint projects that share my values: honesty, depth, and unconditional respect for the human being.
I don’t take orders “on the conveyor belt.” I enter into partnership to create Stories that matter together. Now, Today, and in the Future.
🤝 WHO I WORK WITH AND HOW
🏛️ Curators and Galleries
Personal and group exhibitions, art residencies, curatorial projects. I am ready to provide works from the The Humans v.21 project or develop a new exhibition for the concept of your venue.
📰 Publications and Media
Documentary photo stories, reports, editorial portraits. I work with magazines and online platforms where what matters is not the “picture,” but the depth of the narrative and the ethical purity of the material.
🌍 NGOs and Charitable Foundations
Visual support for social and humanitarian projects. I know how to tell complex stories in a way that evokes not pity, but empathy, understanding, and the desire to help.
🎬 Festivals and Biennials
Participation in professional reviews, portfolio reviews, lectures, and master classes on documentary photography and the ethics of the gaze.
🏢 Conscious Brands
Documentary and image projects for companies that share my aesthetics and humanistic principles. No “staged falseness” — only living, real stories embedded in the brand’s DNA.

MEMORY AGAINST OBLIVION
- Memory against oblivion.
- Voice against silence.
- Dignity against invisibility.
I document those who refused to disappear. So that tomorrow they won’t become just numbers in statistics. So that their faces will look at us through the years — and remind us: we are all part of one Story.
Every photograph has its own time and its own viewer. These people may disappear. Their cities may be erased from maps. Their stories may be forgotten. But I saw their eyes. I heard their voices.
And now it’s your turn to see.
The Humans v.21 — stories that must be told.
